About the West Berkshire Down's Syndrome Group
| We are a small charity based in West
Berkshire and have been running for 12 years. A
group primarily of parents and carers of people with
Down Syndrome using our knowledge, skills and
experience to provide support, information and
services to people with Down Syndrome, their carers
and families. We are affiliated to the Down Syndrome Association, and
closely linked to Down Syndrome Education International to
capitalise on their research, advice and expertise in all
the things we do. We employ a number of therapists and
professionals to assist in providing the service, working in
partnership with statutory service providers where we can. |

With years of experience behind us we can help in many
different ways, not only by information, funding, and
support but by introducing you to a network of people in the
same situation who are more than happy to just have a chat &
a coffee.
Approximately 800-1000 babies every year in this country
are born with Down syndrome and many have medical problems
as well, however with the right support and understanding
these children can and do live very productive lives in
their community. We provide many services already such as
information packs for new families and packs for those who
find out before the birth of their child, coffee mornings,
drama groups, speech & language therapy, a Christmas party
and most importantly support.
